Free holiday concerts slated


The College of the Mainland’s Fine Arts Department will present two instrumental concerts in December that will include music for the holidays. The Community Concert Band, directed by Sparky Koerner, will perform at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Fine Arts Recital Hall.

NASA clears way for spacewalks after spacesuit inquiry
NASA lifted a short-lived ban on spacewalks Thursday, clearing the way for a pair of excursions next week by astronauts on the space station. The space agency said engineers determined that a smoky odor detected during a space-suit test last week did not come from a fire or an electrical short in the suit.

Spacewalks halted over spacesuit’s ’smoky’ odor
NASA has imposed what may be a temporary ban on spacewalks while engineers look for the source of a smoky smell in a spacesuit worn during a ground test, agency officials said Tuesday.
