Gasoline futures rose Monday after BP was forced to shut down a huge oil processing unit for maintenance. Gasoline for August rose 3.5 cents to $2.3446 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. “BP apparently shut a crude unit at its 410,000 barrel per day Whiting, Ind., refinery,” said Tim Evans, an analyst at Citigroup.

Euro soars to new high against U.S. dollar
The euro soared through the $1.37 mark for the first time today, trading as high as $1.3716 amid concerns about the U.S. housing market.
