MS 150 riders pedal for a purpose


Jim Tidwell may not finish the BP MS 150 this weekend. In fact, his history suggests he won’t. He’s just one-for-five to date. But times aren’t recorded just dollar amounts. That’s how this giant rolling fundraing event, the largest of its kind in the country, keeps score.

After 50 years, John Teas’ roses are still in bloom
John Teas is an expert rose gardener. He has spent years collecting hundreds of varieties of roses at Teas Nursery, 4400 Bellaire Blvd. After working for 50 years at the business, he is still in charge of pruning and caring for them. Teas appreciates the prickly plants, but he didn’t fall in love with them for their beauty or sweet scent.

Beachfront Water temperatures climbed to 66 degrees at the Galveston Pleasure Pier. Forecasted highs in the mid 80s this week should warm the water closer to 70 degrees which should help the fishing.
